Collaborations
More than anything, I enjoy working with others, co-producing knowledge, ideas and projects. I am lucky to have great academic colleagues within and beyond my institution who I share and develop work with. I also work with great professional services staff who enable me to do the work I do and whose help I really appreciate in developing and delivering projects and ideas. The work I have enjoyed most as an academic has come through working alongside organisations and individuals, thinking through problems and challenges, trying to develop new approaches or exploring how research and knowledge might support what we are jointly trying to achieve. All the work I share on these pages - whether publications or projects - is the result of working with others. |
Research, consultancy and strategy work
I am committed to working with policy makers and practitioners in the UK and globally. I work with leading humanitarian and development organisations to jointly develop and deliver on their research needs, evaluate projects and programs and provide strategic advice and support. In support of this, I have also developed collaborative PhD projects, bridging academic and policy and practice knowledges. In recent years, I have worked with global and local organisations including the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Habitat for Humanity International, VSO, FORUM, Christian Aid, United Nations Volunteers, the Swedish Red Cross and MUKTI. If you would like to explore an opportunity to work together, email me How I work
I actively work to challenge hierarchies around who is a ‘researcher’ or ‘knowledge’ producer by convening inclusive and cross-sectoral teams to develop projects. As part of this, I am committing to doing all I can to enable global South voice and power in leading, designing and delivering research. In designing academic research projects, I work to include policy and practice organisations from the outset in conception, design, delivery and implementation, ensuring the research has relevance and impact. I work had to share research findings and insight through speeches, moderating discussions, facilitating workshops and events, and through resources including policy briefs and interactive games. If you would like me to talk about my research or engage in other ways, send me an email. |
